Srinagar, June 10: In an encouraging step, SSP Srinagar, Dr. GV Sundip Chakraborty, IPS, on June 5, 2025, failed the special police officer (SPO) Irfan Hazam for his exemplary courage and dedication for her exemplary courage and duty while drowning in the river Jhelum.
The Felicitation event was held at the District Police Headquarters, Srinagar, and was also participated in SP headquarters Mr. Omar Shah and DSP Headquarters Ms. Syed Sleet Shah.
It is advisable to mention that on 5 June 2025, Spo Irfan Hajam, while SDPO on duty as the driver of Mr. Gunj, displayed an extraordinary presence of mind and bravery when she rescued a woman, who jumped into the Jhelum River near Khan-e-Mola to end her life.
While responding rapidly for the Emergency, the spo digest jumped into the river without hesitation and brought the woman for security.
SSP Srinagar appreciated the SPO’s quick and courageous Act and said that such selfless tasks follow the highest standards of public service, dedication and humanity. He hoped that the Srinagar police officers would continue to discharge their duties with tireless commitment in the service of the people.
