Srinagar, May 12, KDC: In view of recent developments with the Line of Control (LOC), the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has announced that online classes for all graduate and postgraduate students will start from May 13 and will continue till 6 June 2025.
Registrar of the Institute, Prof. Atikur Rahman said that this step follows an increased tension of one week on the boundaries, during which many students were allowed to return to their homes for security reasons.
He said, “Many faculty members also traveled to their respective hometowns amid uncertainty. Now with the situation of stabilizing the situation, the institute has opted for a phased and structured return in general educational operations,” he said.
Pro. Rahman said that online classes will start on Tuesday, May 13, and will continue till 6 June, the college hostels will open again on June 9, so that the students can get a return to the campus.
He said, “On the instructions of Director NIT Srinagar, Prof.
Pro. Reman said that the administration underlined the importance of maintaining educational continuity during this period. He said that conducting online classes is to reduce the interruption in the course, while giving priority to the safety and welfare of both students and employees, he said.
Meanwhile, according to an official notification issued by Dean Educational Affairs, after a meeting with Dean Students Welfare, Registrar, and Director (In-charge), the hostels will reopen on June 9, 2025, which will provide enough time to students and will get enough time to settle in the campus.
“Next, physical classes will resume on June 11, 2025, restoring full-in-person educational engagement,” said this.
The notice is aired among all departments and students are urged to regularly participate in online classes and start preparing for offline classes next month. (KDC)
