Srinagar Bracese, DDMA Srinagar requested to be publicly safe for Heatwave

Srinagar, the office of the District Magistrate, has issued a heatwave advice as the temperature is expected to rise rapidly in the next few days.

District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Srinagar has urged the residents to take necessary precautions for their health and welfare safety.

People are advised to drink a lot of water throughout the day, even if they are not thirsty. It is recommended to use ORS, lemonade, buttermilk and fresh fruit juice with a pinch of salt to stay hydrated. It is also important to include seasonal fruits and vegetables with high water content such as watermelon, cucumber, musma, and oranges.

Residents should avoid getting out of the hottest part of the day between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. If it is necessary to go out, it is advisable to wear light colored, loose cotton clothes and cover the head with a hat, scarf, or umbrella. Walking barefoot in the sun should also be avoided.

Advisor discourages consumption of alcohol, tea, coffee, carbonated and sugary drinks as they increase the risk of dehydration. Heavy, stale or high-protein food should also be avoided. Importantly, children and pets should never be left alone in parked vehicles, even for a short time.

For employers and external workers, DDMA recommends providing calm drinking water and shaded comfort areas. Heavy outdoor work should be determined during the cooler hours of the day, either morning or evening. Workers must be trained to identify symptoms of heat stress and encourage out to each other, especially pregnant women and people with current health conditions.

Organizers of public functions and sports events are urged to arrange shaded, well ventilated places and avoid coming in direct sunlight indoors.

When the temperature is relatively low, external activities should be planned for the early morning or late evening.

Excessive heat exposure can cause health risk such as heat rash, cramps, fainting, heat tiredness and heat stroke. It can also worsen conditions such as heart, kidney and respiratory diseases. Warning signs include dizziness, nausea, headache, rapid heartbeat, shallow breath, excessive thirst and dark urine.

In high -risk groups, infant, young children, pregnant women, elderly people, people with chronic diseases, external activists and hot climate. In children, symptoms such as refusal to eat, irritability, dry mouth, sang eyes, or seizures require immediate attention.

In the case of any heat -related health issues, people should quickly go to a cooler place, drink water or solve oral regeneration, and seek medical help. If symptoms of hetstroke appear, immediate medical aid is important because it is a life-threatening emergency.
