Karnal, Oct 18 (IANS) Union Minister Manohar Lal visited Haryana’s Karnal on Saturday and while addressing a press conference, announced that a series of nationwide programs will be organized to observe National Unity Day on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. These programs will be organized from 31 October to 31 December.
He said that on October 25, 26 and 27, unity marches of 8 to 10 kilometers will be organized in villages and cities, in which there will be active participation of youth, volunteers and general public. There will be a grand “Run for Unity” on October 31. He stressed that its aim is to promote the feeling of national unity, solidarity and patriotism among the youth. Registrations for these programs are being conducted through “My Youth India (MY India) portal.
Various initiatives like seminars, exhibitions and literature distribution will be organized over the two months to educate and inspire the youth about the life and contributions of Sardar Patel.
While extending hearty greetings to the people of the country and the state on the festivals of Dhanteras, Chhoti Diwali, Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj, Manohar Lal described the festive season as a symbol of harmony and unity.
He congratulated Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and the people of Haryana on completion of one year of the third term of the government and said that the government is living up to the trust of the people.
The Union Minister highlighted recent welfare measures, including an increase in old age pension by Rs 200 and the launch of a new initiative under the ‘Lado Lakshmi Yojana’ under which Rs 2,100 will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of women from November.
He emphasized that all the benefits of government schemes are being given through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring transparency and efficiency. “The state is on a continuous path of development and special focus will be given to launching new schemes in the next four years,” he said.
Summarizing the achievements, Manohar Lal said that “clean governance, prosperous citizenry and optimistic environment” are the biggest achievements of the present government.
