Special air quality statements were issued for Toronto due to wildfire smoke

Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for most southern Ontario including GTA.

The National Meteorological Service states that forest fire is causing smoke or on Saturday afternoon and evening, causing poor air quality and low visibility in the entire southern Ontario.

The statement said, “The air quality and visibility due to wildfire can move down at a short distance and vary greatly from hours to hours.”

Environment Canada has warned that as the level of smoke increases, health risks also increase.

“You can experience light and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headache or mild cough. More severe but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pain or severe cough,” it has been said. “Consider reducing or re -determining outdoor sports, activities and events.”
