Group Captain Shukla is an Indian Air Force officer and test pilot. He is one of the four astronauts selected and trained for India’s first manned mission Gaganyaan, to be launched in 2027.
Taking the stage in front of a packed audience at the Bengaluru Tech Summit, Shukla joked that it took him three times longer than his scheduled speech to get from Marathahalli to the venue.
He said, “I am coming from Marathahalli, on the other side of Bengaluru. I have spent three times more time with you than I will spend on this presentation. So you have to see my commitment.”
Responding to the comment during his concluding day address, Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge quipped, “Shubhanshu Shukla said it was easy for him to reach Bengaluru from space, but it was difficult to reach the site from Marathahalli.” Kharge said the government will ensure that such delays do not happen again.
The Future Makers Conclave, one of the most engaging sessions of this year’s Bengaluru Tech Summit, attracted thousands of participants and showcased a strong lineup of creators, innovators, founders, athletes and thinkers.
