South Africa creates record by hitting so many sixes in Test innings for the first time

The second Test match was played between hosts Bangladesh and South Africa in Chittagong. Like the first Test match, South Africa also put Bangladesh on the back foot with their excellent batting. On the second day, South Africa scored a huge score in the first innings with three batsmen at their disposal. South Africa declared the first innings at 577/6. Just like that, the African team achieved the third-highest Test result in Asia. South Africa scored more than 550 runs for the fourth time in the history of Test cricket, with 3 centuries making an important contribution.

Apart from Tony de George and Tristan Stubbs, Vian Mulder also scored a brilliant century for South Africa. Tony De Georgi scored the highest innings of 177 runs. In this brilliant innings, he hit 12 fours and 4 sixes. Meanwhile, Tristan Stubbs scored 106 runs with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes. Mulder, on the other hand, played an innings of 105 with 8 fours and 4 sixes.

In South Africa’s first innings, all batsmen hit a total of 17 sixes, setting a new record. In fact, South Africa set a new record for the most sixes in the first innings of a Test match. He broke his 14-year-old record. In 2010, South Africa achieved the feat of hitting 15 sixes in a single innings in a Test match against the West Indies.

South Africa hit 17 sixes to equal the record of Australia, who are ranked third in hitting most sixes in a Test innings. Twenty-one years ago in 2003, Australia hit 17 sixes in an innings during a Test match against Zimbabwe. New Zealand holds the record for most six runs in an innings.
