As testing continues on New York Knicks forward Julius Randle’s dislocated right shoulder, there is optimism that his return will be within weeks rather than months, sources told ESPN.
Sources said Randle underwent an MRI on Saturday night, and while the evaluation is not yet fully complete, the hope is that Randle can avoid surgery and return after being sidelined for weeks rather than months.
The NBA All-Star Game in mid-February also creates a 10-day break between games for Randle and the Knicks.
Randle fell hard on his shoulder during the team’s 125-109 win over the Miami Heat on Saturday. It also helps that Randle is a lefty.
Randle has been at the forefront of the Knicks’ outstanding season, which includes 12 wins in 14 games in January. This season he averaged 24 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
According to ESPN Stats & Information, Randle has appeared in all 46 games for the Knicks this season and 95% of the team’s games since joining as a free agent in 2019.
