chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor There will be more to come from record-signing Alyssa Thompson after scoring her first goal for the club in a 4-0 win against Paris FC at Stamford Bridge.

“She brings a lot of speed up front, she’s a player who is really comfortable on the ball,” Bompastor said.
“She takes risks, attacks defenders one-on-one. It’s really hard to defend against her. She brings in a lot of crosses when she goes out and she can finish in the box like she did tonight.
“She’s been working hard. That first goal for a forward or winger is really important for confidence.
“He’s got an engine. He’s got a desire to help the team out of possession.”
“If he has to run to help defend, he’s capable of doing that.
“We haven’t seen the best of him yet, but hopefully we’ll see him soon.”
Erin Cuthbert Substitute Sam Kerr scored the fourth goal virtually off the line after getting on the end of his header.
Chelsea had previously scored only two goals from open play in their previous three games, as well as conceding a penalty in their disappointing Champions League draw with Twente a week earlier, but this result got their European season off to a great start.
“The most important thing is the character we have shown in the last two games,” Bompastor said.
“I am direct and honest with my players. I will always defend them (in the media) but when I have to analyze the game, I am straight with them.
“When I tell them something isn’t working I make sure I’m the one giving them simple things to achieve.
“If you drop even five, 10 percent of your energy, you’re in trouble. The hardest thing in football is to stay at that level.
“In this situation you need to keep working hard and stay confident. It’s about having the same mentality and focusing on the main thing – finishing and being clinical.”
Paris boss Sandrin Sauberand reflected on a brave performance from her side which led to their trip to the West London Proved to be a bridge too far.
“It was a fair result,” said the 198-cap former France international. “The penalty was disappointing, the ball was high in the air and didn’t look like it was playable.
“Chelsea have high ambitions and we knew this before the game. We defended well despite giving them clear chances. We have far fewer international players than them.”
