Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh expressed his concerns over Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling unit, which conceded the highest number of wickets in the history of Indian Premier League against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium . RCB opted to field SRH and the Pat Cummins-led side sent a tsunami on the pitch as they smashed their own record and posted the highest total in IPL history: 287/3. On this record-breaking night, every bowler who completed a four-ball-plus spell conceded more than 50 runs. Reece Topley took a wicket but conceded 68 runs. Yash Dayal conceded 51 runs, Lockie Ferguson scored two while conceding 52 runs and Vijaykumar Vyshak also conceded 64 runs . Throughout the tournament, RCB’s bowling unit lacked firepower and that was one of the reasons for their defeat. In seven games, RCB tried to defend their target four times but failed to do so once in the current season.

“RCB’s difficulties are increasing. There was a discussion about their bowling line-up after the auction and they must be aware of it now. They conceded maximum runs in the IPL. I agree the surface is there for the batsmen but someone needs to improve them level,” Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel. “I’ll give you two or three wickets.”

Dinesh Karthik’s half-century battle and explosive powerplay between skipper Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli The combination brings RCB one step closer to chasing the elusive total.

Although the midfielder failed to score in the first game, Karthik gave hope to the home fans by scoring 83 goals in 35 games.

“The best thing about RCB’s batting is Dinesh Karthik, who scores runs in every game,” Harbhajan added.

After the match started, SRH batted and a blitzkrieg of Travis Head (102) and Heinrich Klassen (67) put the visitors at 287/3.

In reply, Kohli (42) and Du Plessis (62) gave the home team an ideal start but the fall of wickets kept hampering their chase. Dinesh Karthik once again took the lead with a brilliant score of 83 runs. But it was not enough to get his team across the finish line as RCB suffered a 25-run defeat.

After suffering their sixth defeat of the season, RCB will travel to the Eden Gardens on Sunday to take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
