A digital doppelgänger of the iconic actress, wearing a plain black turtleneck and her familiar blonde pixie cut, appears on the computer screen and will speak in her familiar breathy voice. In a recent test, digital Marilyn Monroe talked about her favorite movie character, Sugar, from the 1959 comedy Some Like It Hot. Before giving her answer, she paused, lowered her head in thought. .

Digital Marilyn is created by Soul Machines, an artificial intelligence company that specializes in creating realistic digital characters, in partnership with Authentic Brands Group. The marketing company owns a portfolio of brands, including the image rights to Monroe and other deceased celebrities.

Soul Machines will launch Digital Marilyn at an event hosted by The Information, where attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the character. Cross said he hopes the demo will spark discussion about using the character as a brand ambassador.
