After several rounds of inconclusive talks between the Center and the farmers regarding their demands, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said that a solution should be found through talks and continuous talks are going on with the Centre.

“People living in forests protect the environment. From Bihar to Andhra Pradesh, which is a forest area, tribals worship ‘forest’. No army and farmers are standing face to face. Meanwhile, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher on Friday said that one more protesting farmer has died at Khanauri border, taking the death toll during the ongoing protests under the call of Delhi Chalo to 4.

Darshan Singh, 62, a farmer from Amargarh village in Bathinda district, was living on the Khanauri border since February 13.

The General Secretary of Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Sarwan Singh Pandher said that Darshan Singh died of cardiac arrest.

Pandher said, “He was at the Khanauri border and is the fourth martyr in this farmers’ movement. He has been identified as Darshan Singh (62). He died of a heart attack.”

He also said that a member of the victim’s family should be given a job.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday announced that the Center has set up a three-member committee of ministers and is holding talks with farmers.

Speaking to ANI on the farmers’ protest, the Finance Minister said, “The Center has formed a 3-member committee of ministers and is discussing and holding talks with the farmers.”

Ms Sitharaman also said that the Prime Minister has left no stone unturned to ensure the welfare of farmers and PM Modi has also worked for small and marginal farmers.

“I can provide a list of all that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done for farmers. From increasing their income to helping them with small expenses, PM Modi has taken every step for the welfare of farmers. He We also work for the welfare of the Small farmers,” the Finance Minister said.
