Temperatures may return again towards the end of the month after Storm Goretti hits some areas. U.K. There was wind, snow and heavy rain.

The likelihood of colder weather increasing towards the end of the month, Met Office explain.

Storm Goretti, described as a “multiple hazard event” by the Met Office, brought wind gusts of nearly 100mph to southwest England earlier this month and prompted a rare “dangerous storm” red warning.

The Met Office said that from next week the UK will “see Atlantic weather systems trying to move in from the west, with high pressure and cold weather trying to exert some influence from the east”.

Forecasters said the initial forecast was for mild Atlantic air, with cloudy and changeable weather with showers and average temperatures.

Then toward the end of the month, the chances of cooler weather increase, with a chance of snow.

A spokesman said: “There remains some uncertainty in this aspect of the forecast, but a possible shift towards colder weather also increases the likelihood of snow in parts of the country.”
