SIU checks Hamilton Crash which includes suspected stolen vehicles

Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) is investigating an incident in Hamilton, when the police chased ended with a stolen vehicle with an accident in a taxi late on Wednesday night, causing a person seriously injured.

According to the initial details released by SIU, the incidents began around 11:40 pm on July 23, when Hamilton police officers at a marked cruiser attempted to stop a driver in a suspected stolen vehicle on AKman Avenue. The 34 -year -old male driver fled from the spot.

Some time later, the vehicle collided with a taxi at Sanford Avenue South. The suspect was arrested at the scene and rushed to the hospital, where he is currently being treated for serious injury. According to SIU, the taxi driver was not seriously injured.

In response to the incident, Sanford Avenue remains closed between North Main Street and Akman Avenue, and lane restrictions on Aicmen Avenue are effective. Police are asking residents to escape from the area and use alternative routes as the investigation is on.

The province’s police guards say that two investigators, two forensic investigators and the reconstruction of one confrontation have been entrusted to the case.
