Patna, Oct 11 (IANS) Election strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor on Saturday launched his election campaign in Bihar and chose Raghopur, the family stronghold of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, as his starting point.
Speaking to reporters before his visit, Kishore said that his party will decide only after the Raghopur event whether he will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections or not.
Even before reaching Raghopur, PK, as Jan Suraj is popularly known, took a dig at Tejashwi and claimed that the news of his visit had already “scared” the RJD leader.
“The situation in Raghopur is still serious. The person, whose parents were chief ministers and who himself was deputy chief minister, represents the constituency, still nothing has improved. That’s why we are going to Raghopur. Tejashwi is afraid of my visit,” Kishor said.
Political observers see Kishor’s visit as a bold challenge to Tejashwi’s family stronghold and a strategic attempt to establish the Jan Suraj Party as a serious contender in the political arena of Bihar.
On speculations about his relationship with Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh’s wife Jyoti Singh, Kishore clarified, “Pawan Singh is my friend, but I have not had any political meeting with his wife.”
With this move, ‘PK’ has officially kicked off his campaign, and his Raghopur visit is expected to raise the political temperature in Bihar ahead of the 2025 assembly elections.
Jan Suraj Party has already declared the first list of 51 candidates for Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.
Of the 51 candidates, seven are from Scheduled Caste, 17 from OBC and nine from minority community.
Jan Suraj Party national president Uday Singh had earlier announced that Prashant Kishore’s name was not in the list.
Among the prominent names announced in the party’s first list, Bharat Ratna Karpuri Thakur’s granddaughter Jagriti Thakur will contest from Morwa.
RCP Singh’s daughter Lata Singh will contest elections from Asthawan in Nalanda district. Bhojpuri actor Ritesh Pandey will contest from Karghar in Rohtas district and renowned educationist KC Sinha will contest from Kumhrar assembly constituency in Patna.
