Kolkata, Oct 30 (IANS) In an effort to make things convenient for voters during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal has opened multiple channels to update voters about the booth level officials of the respective areas.
The CEO Office has decided to widely publicize the details of BLOs of the respective areas along with their mobile numbers, so that in case of any inconvenience, voters can directly contact the concerned BLOs and resolve the issues.
An insider in the CEO office said, “The details of BLOs including mobile numbers will be available on the respective websites of the CEO office as well as the offices of the District Magistrates, who are also the District Returning Officers. An area-wise awareness campaign will also be conducted to make the voters aware of the details of the BLOs of the respective areas.”
The SIR for 12 Indian states, including West Bengal, was announced earlier this week. The first phase of the three-phase SIR will begin from November 4.
In the first phase, BLOs will reach door to door with counting forms and collect details of the concerned voters. The draft of the voter list in the state will be announced at the end of the first phase.
Also, the CEO office has decided to open multiple channels to help voters submit their duly filled counting forms. Either they can submit the enumeration form to the BLO who reaches their doorstep or they can go to the electoral registration office of the area and submit the form there.
“If a voter stays out during the first phase, he will be able to visit the website of the CEO office and fill the enumeration form online there. If a voter stays out for professional purposes, any of his family members will sign on his behalf and submit. However, the signer will have to write the name of the applicant and his/her relationship with him. Remember, a voter’s name will be listed in the draft list only if he submits the duly filled enumeration form,” the CEO’s office insider said.
According to him, all these initiatives have been taken to make the process convenient for voters.
