Shri Amarnathji Yatra -2025: Reviews of Divcom Jammu, Samba, Kathua

Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar today made a comprehensive tour of Samba and Katua districts to inspect and review the arrangements being kept for the smooth conduct of the upcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025 today.

He was accompanied by deputy commissioners of Kathua and Samba along with senior officers of the police and civil administration.

In Samba, Div Com assessed civil facilities in major housing centers including Baba Ambedkar Hall, Mount Litera School, Government HSS Jokh, Government GHSS Vijaypur, Municipal Hall Samba, and major spiritual stops such as Chichi Mata Temple and Narsingh Temple.

Div com emphasized 24 × 7 power supply, clean drinking water, hygiene and toilet facilities, proper lights and CCTV monitoring, so that the safety and rest of the pilgrims can be ensured.

Later, Div Com visited Kathua, where he conducted a detailed inspection of Lakhanpur Corridor and Yatri Facilitation Center. The Div Com directed the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Lakhanpur to intensify the cleanliness drive, maintain public hygiene, and establish informative signage for the convenience of pilgrims. He called for the completion of repair and beautification work in Lakhanpur by 25 June, given that this is the first entry point for pilgrims coming through the road.

It was reported that the district administration has established specified rest areas for yatras along with six RFID counters, five-bedded medical rooms, cold drinks water station, langar (community kitchen) facilities, clean toilet blocks and Lakhanpur corridors.

Div Com also reviewed security arrangements, directed the police department to prepare a comprehensive security plan. ASP Kathua was instructed to ensure adequate deployment of security personnel at all strategic places.

Additionally, Divcom inspected the government’s polytechnic college and town hall, which was recognized as a housing center in a Yatra stop case to assess the availability of essential services.

He directed the concerned departments to work in close coordination, maintain round-the-clock readiness, and prioritize timely distribution of sanitation, safety and services. He also visited Kathua Waterfront to detect beautification and growth options of public facilities on the site.
