Shreyas Iyer received a special mention from fielding coach T Dilip as the Indian cricket team continued its tradition of awarding the Fielding Award to the best performer after their series win over England. Iyer played in the first two Tests of the five-match series but was left out of the squad for the remaining matches and he was also left out of the BCCI Central Contract List. In a video posted by BCCI on social media, T Dilip praised the Indian cricket team players for their outstanding defensive performance and added that Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will share a medal .
“Now I want to commend the collective effort that lit up this series. Shreyas was not there but in the initial games he was out there and took the ball well. He made a lot of changes. Kuldeep Made his mark on the field with his relentless hard work. Outstanding effort. For the first time I see a short leg guy coming into the team saying I want to play short leg and showing that attitude. Remarkable. Sarfaraz Khan,” he explain.
