Shocking footage shows London Deliveroo driver attacked by knife-wielding man in broad daylight

A knife-wielding robber caught on CCTV stabbing a Deliveroo driver and trying to steal his bike has been jailed for six-and-a-half years.

Shocking footage of attackLewis Livingstone, 19, kicked the victim and forced him off his bike in broad daylight on July 1 last year.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector James Hunt said the victim, 28, was “going about his day and had just bought some food” when Livingstone attacked him as he stood at a bus stop.

Livingstone, from Enfield, north London, was sentenced at Hendon Magistrates’ Court on March 15 after admitting at an earlier hearing charges of attempted robbery and possessing a bladed article.

He was also given a suspended sentence for previous offences, and must now serve 18 months, bringing the total sentence to eight years.

The victim received medical assistance at the scene before being taken to hospital, where his injuries were found to be non-life-threatening or life-changing. But he claimed he was “still shaken by the shock and horror of the unprovoked attack”.

CCTV footage Livingston pulled out a large knife and scared the victim away. He then got on the bike but the Deliveroo driver ran back and lunged at him in an attempt to prevent the bike from being stolen.

As the victim screamed for help, some members of the public stepped in to stop the attacker and hold him back, before police arrived minutes later and arrested him.

One witness said that when asked why he carried out the attack, Livingstone simply replied: “Is he dead?”

A victim impact statement said: “I believe if people hadn’t come to my rescue this man would have killed me.

“I haven’t recovered from the shock and fear. I spent the night in the hospital and have been having nightmares. I still have pain in my sides and hands from the stab wounds. I’m now in line for surgery.” “

Investigating Detective Inspector James Hunter said: “The victim continues to suffer the physical and mental effects of this incident.

“He was going about his day and had just bought some food when he was suddenly plunged into the horrific ordeal.

“I know he is extremely grateful to those who helped him. If not for their bravery, this incident could have been much worse.”
