Bengaluru, Oct 9 (IANS) The studio of popular reality show ‘Bigg Boss Kannada’ reopened on Thursday following orders from Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, two days after the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) sealed the premises over violation of norms.
District authorities opened Gate C of Jollywood Entertainment and Adventures Pvt Ltd at 2.45 am after remaining closed for two days, allowing all 17 contestants to return to the sets from a private resort.
Speaking to
The Deputy CM reaffirmed his commitment to support the Kannada entertainment industry while ensuring environmental protection.
The authorities are yet to open the main entrance of Jollywood Studios and Adventures. Currently, only Gate C, which provides direct access to the Bigg Boss reality show studio, is open.
Jollywood Studios challenged the bandh in the High Court, where the petition is scheduled to be heard today.
Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep, host of the reality show, responded, “I sincerely thank DK Shivakumar sir for his timely support. Would also like to thank the concerned authorities for accepting that Bigg Boss Kannada was not involved or part of the recent chaos or disturbance.”
Sudeep said, “I really appreciate the Deputy Chief Minister for promptly responding to my call and thank Nalapad for his dedicated efforts. Bigg Boss Kannada 12 is here to stay.”
Earlier, criticizing the Congress-led Karnataka government’s decision to seal Bigg Boss Kannada studio over alleged violations, the state BJP had accused the government of targeting Kannada star Kiccha Sudeep.
Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Council, Chalawadi Narayanaswamy directly alleged that the Congress-led government has singled out actor Kiccha Sudeep.
“They first targeted former ministers KN Rajanna and B Nagendra and now Sudeep has become their next target,” he said.
Narayanaswamy said, “It is important to understand who exactly the government is targeting. This is community-based discrimination. The government should exercise caution, as the public will not tolerate such actions.”
Shivakumar had earlier said, “‘Bigg Boss Kannada’ should continue. There may have been some mistakes on their part, but there should definitely be a chance for improvement. This is my way of resolving the issue.”
However, Janata Dal (Secular) took to social media platform
The party also shared a video clip of Shivakumar saying he “knows how to deal with those who disobey” – comments he made during the inauguration of the 16th Bengaluru International Film Festival in response to criticism of the government’s handling of the event.
The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board on Tuesday had ordered the immediate closure of Bigg Boss Kannada studio, citing non-compliance with environmental laws and operating without valid permission.
The twelfth season of the popular reality show hosted by Sudeep was recently launched.
Reacting to the closure order, state forest minister Ishwar Khandre had said in Bengaluru on Tuesday, “Despite being issued several notices for violations, they continued their activities. No one is above the law, and action will be taken as per legal provisions.”
