Namita Thapar has been a part of Shark Tank India since its first season. While the show’s third season is underway, in a recent interview, Namita opened up about the founders being “ghosted” after their deal was aired on TV. Namita explained in an interview with YouTube channel Finance with Sharan that there was a “lack of integrity” on the part of the pitchers.

“A lot of people don’t know about the investment numbers because they don’t realize that when we start doing due diligence, there’s a lot of things… there’s a real lack of integrity on the part of the founders. There’s a lot of founders that have rubbed me the wrong way. There are. A lot of founders, when we do our due diligence, the numbers they quote in the tank are completely wrong, not just slightly wrong, but drastically wrong,” shares Namita.

The CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals further explained that while viewers questioned the Sharks for not accepting large deals, they had no idea this was happening because of “integrity issues.”

“So what people don’t realize is they see us making these offers and then they say ‘you’re not doing the deal’, but what they don’t realize is there’s a lot of integrity issues and that’s why the counts are down significantly. I think that’s one thing that anyone who follows Shark Tank has to realize, is that there’s a gap between what Shark Tank reveals and what really comes out of due diligence,” she added .

“Shark Tank India” returns for its third season on January 22, 2024. A few familiar sharks from previous seasons include Namita Thapar, executive director, Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited, Aman Gupta, co-founder, Boat, Peyush Bansal, co-founder and CEO, Lenskart, Anupam Thapar, founder and director, Shaadi.com Anupam Mittal and Sugar Cosmetics CEO Vineeta Singh are back in Shark Tank India Season 3.
