‘Shameful’: BJP on Congress’s ‘politicization’ of Delhi blasts

New Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS) A day after the terror attack near Delhi’s Red Fort, the BJP on Tuesday attacked the “shameless” Congress for “working against the national interest”, and condemned the opposition parties’ attempt to “politicize” the tragedy in which eight people were killed. BJP leader Amit Malviya said, “If there was a face for being shameless and working against the national interest, it would look exactly like the Congress.” “The problem with our opposition and the crazy far-left ecosystem is that they do not know how to stand with the country in its time of need,” Malviya, who is in-charge of the BJP’s national information and technology department, said on Twitter. He said, “And now, instead of standing with India, they are busy politicizing the Delhi blasts, questioning the government, while the evidence points towards a large-scale crackdown that led to the busting of several terror modules, preventing major attacks and arresting dreaded operatives. Our intelligence agencies are on full alert.” “While top government officials are closely monitoring the situation and reassuring the nation, the opposition leader and his sister, the second-ranking leader in the Congress, are reportedly on another foreign holiday trip,” Malviya said. The BJP leader’s sharp criticism of the Congress and its allies coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who, speaking in Bhutan, had assured action against the conspirators behind the blasts. He said Indian agencies would get to the bottom of the conspiracy and assured that those behind the blast “will not be spared”. In his remarks at the Changlimthang grounds in Thimphu, PM Modi said India and Bhutan have shared a deep spiritual and cultural bond for centuries. He said, “Today is a very important day for Bhutan, the Bhutanese Royal Family and all those who believe in world peace. India and Bhutan have shared a deep spiritual and cultural bond for centuries. And so, it was India’s and my commitment to participate in this momentous occasion.” He said, “Today I have come here with a very heavy heart. The horrific incident that took place in Delhi yesterday evening has deeply saddened everyone. I understand the pain of the affected families. Today the entire nation stands with them. I was in touch with all the agencies investigating this incident throughout last night… Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice.” Union Home Minister Amit Shah also chaired a meeting with top officials at his residence regarding the car blast near Red Fort metro station. –IANS RCH/SVN
