Bengaluru, September 29 (IANS) Prajwal Revanna, a convict in the case of sex video and rape filed an appeal by the trial court on Monday challenging him the sentence of respected life. Prajwal Revanna is a former JD (S) MP and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s grandson.
In his petition, Prajwal Revanna alleged that the police forced the victim to file a complaint against him.
Prajwal Revna is facing life imprisonment for repeated rape crimes of video recording of a middle -aged house and video recording of sexual harassment. The appeal has been filed through advocate Basavraj Sapnewar. The appeal to the High Court is yet to be heard.
Prajwal Revanna faces three more cases of uniform nature.
Prajwal Revanna said in his petition that there are contradictions between the victim and the testimony complaint and questioned the decision to consider the stains found on a bed after the incidents.
Prajwal has demanded to reduce the trial court’s decision and claim that the allegations against him are filled with discrepancies and procedural laps.
In an important judgment, special court for MPs/MLAs in Bengaluru sentenced former JD (S) MP Prajwal Revna to life imprisonment till death in rape case.
The case included a pornographic video and a 47 -year -old woman rape. While sentencing, Special Court Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh to the convict on 1 August.
Prajwal Revanna was repeatedly convicted for misusing rape and power situation. The court also ordered a fine of Rs 7 lakh to be paid to the victim.
The case is related to sexual harassment of a woman, who served as a maid in a guest house owned by the Revna family. In his will, the victim had said before the court that he was raped twice. Prajwal Revanna has been in jail since May 31, 2024 last year, when he was arrested on his return from Germany, where he escaped after videos of his sexual attacks went viral.
Judge Santosh Ghajanana Bhat announced the verdict. The court has repeatedly convicted Prajwal Revanna of life imprisonment till death under IPC Section 376 (2) (N) for rape and a fine of Rs 5 lakh. The court has awarded life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5 lakh under IPC Section 376 (2) (K) for being in a state of control or dominance in a woman and raping such a woman.
The court has directed that a fine of Rs 7 lakh should be collected from Prajwal Revanna for the victim.
