Sources in the airport said that several flights prescribed for arrival and departure from Delhi Airport were canceled on Thursday due to the airspace closure.
These 90 canceled flights include 46 domestic departure and 33 domestic arrival flights, while this includes five international departure and six international arrival flights. These canceled flights were scheduled between 8 am and 2 pm.
It comes after Operation Sindoor of the Indian Armed Forces against Pakistan. According to the central government, 21 airports in North and North-Western India will remain closed till May 10.
Many major cities of northern India have been placed on high alert. As part of increased security measures, several airports across India have been closed to next notice.
Several flights of airlines like Indigo, Air India, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, Air India Express have been canceled and resolved.
On Wednesday, SpiceJet announced the cancellation of flight operations from six airports in northern India, after the closure of the airport, in the wake of Operation Sindor, amid increased security, was began in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
In its travel advisor posted on the social media platform X, SpiceJet said that Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Kandla and Dharamshala Airports are currently closed, and all flight operations from these cities are suspended till 5:29 pm on May 10.
Earlier, IndiGo canceled its flight operations in 11 cities of North, North -Western and Central India by May 10, following instructions from aviation officials about the closure of the airport.
IndiGo said in its travel advisor that Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dhameshla, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Gwalior, Kishangarh, and Rajkot are affected cities where flight operations have been canceled by 5:29 pm on May 10.
