The State Disaster Response Force said that seven passengers are suspected to be dead in the early hours of Sunday morning on a helicopter crashed near the forest of Garikund in Uttarakhand.
According to preliminary information, the helicopter operated by Aryan Aviation crashed due to bad weather.
SDRF and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel are carrying out relief operations in the region, as the site of the accident is called a difficult and inaccessible area.
According to UCADA’s statement, the helicopter crashed around 5:20 am today took six passengers and a pilot. Passengers in the helicopter met Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
The official statement said, “Today, around 5:20 am, a helicopter, which was going from Mr. Kedarnath Dham to Guptakashi, has been reported to crashed near Garikund. There were six passengers (5 adults and 1 children) and pilots.
The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Aoothority (UCDA) said that NDRF and SDRF teams have been sent to the accident site for rescue operations.
The official statement said, “In view of relief and rescue, NDRF and SDRF teams have been sent to the site of the incident.”
Inspector General (Garhwal Range) Rajiv Swaroop said that the location of the accident was a very remote area.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief and prayed for the safety of the travelers. In a post on X, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote, “There have been very tragic news about a helicopter crash in Rudraprayag district. Reports of the helicopter disappearance were revealed, Uttarakhand ADG Law and Order, Dr. V. V. V. M. Murugashan said that the helicopters who have gone missing in Garikund have crashed.
