Officials said on Sunday that Imphal in Manipur, October 5 (IANS) security forces continued their cracks on militant groups recovered arms, ammunition and drugs in separate operations during the last 24 hours, arresting seven more rebels from different districts.
A police officer said that seven terrorists were arrested from four districts – Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishanupur and Kaking.
The arrested terrorists were from the Kangalipak Communist Party of Communist Party (KCP) and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA)/Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF).
One of the oldest terrorist organizations in Manipur, PLA, is active with a political wing in most of the Imphal Valley region, with RPF.
Arrested rebels were involved in recruiting youth for RPF/PLA, intermediaries through frightening of parties in recovery from people and government officials in the Imphal Valley area and in cases of loan recovery.
Security forces also recovered a 2,000 high -drug addiction Mathemfatamine bullets worth about Rs 16.66 lakh from a house owned by Chinhong (44) in Tubong village in Churachandpur district.
Menthafetamine tablets, also known as Yaba Tablet or ‘Crazy Drug’, which contains a mixture of methemfetamine and caffeine, are restricted in India.
An uncontrolled international border with Myanmar and an inter-state border with Mizoram have changed into a hotspot of illegal trade of Hilly District Charachandpur drugs.
Security forces also recovered weapons and pilgrimage cash from Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts.
Kangpokpi district also shared an unfit international border with Myanmar. The recovered arms include a 9 mm carbine submine gun with a magazine, a .303 rifle with a magazine, a 9 mm pistol with a magazine, a magazine loaded with some tablets, a .32 pistol with a magazine, ten local bolt action single-bolt-bolt guns, and a bridge or a bridge.
A large cash of various types of ammunition was also recovered from two districts.
The official said that security forces continue to operate the search operations and domination of the area in fringe and weak areas in the districts.
The movement of 346 vehicles carrying essential commodities with Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37) has been ensured without any event.
Strict security measures are taken in all weak places, and security convoys are provided in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles. According to the official, in both the hills and the valley region, a total of 114 nose/posts were established in various districts to prevent unpleasant and illegal movements of disqualified elements and suspected vehicles.
