The TV host also rejected Trump’s repeated claims that he does not regularly watch Meyers’ show, despite saying that he attended the program in January.

“I watched his show last night for the first time in years,” Trump wrote. “In it he talked a lot about the electric catapults on aircraft carriers, which I complain are not as good as the less expensive steam catapults. He really went off as a deranged lunatic.”

He added: “Why does NBC waste their time and money on a guy like this??? – No talent, no ratings, 100% anti-Trump, who is possibly illegal!!!”

Independent NBC has been contacted for comment. When asked about the post, a White House official cited Independent For Trump’s comments.

During Trump’s speech to members of the U.S. military aboard the USS George Washington aircraft carrier in Japan, the President asked the audience to vote on what type of catapult is better for an aircraft carrier: steam or electric. Many spectators shouted: “Steam!”

“They’re spending billions of dollars to build stupid power,” Trump said. “And the problem is, when it breaks down, you have to send up to MIT, get the most talented people in the world, weed them out, it’s ridiculous.”

Trump added, “Steam, they said they could fix it with a hammer and a blowtorch, and it works just as well if not better.” “And I love the view of the beautiful steam coming off that deck – with electricity, you don’t have that.”

While mocking the speech during his show, Meyers played a portion of Trump’s dialogue for his audience before commenting: “Guy spends more time thinking about slingshots than Wile E. Coyote.”

“After that, they start complaining about how our soldiers don’t arm themselves with rockets anymore,” Meyers said.

“We used to tie our soldiers to rockets and they loved it, but then everybody woke up and they said, ‘You can’t tie a person to a rocket,’ ” Meyers said, imitating Trump. But we remember those days and we are bringing them back.”
