Bengaluru, Oct 28 (IANS) Responding to the controversy over his statements regarding the BJP allegedly shifting investments meant for Karnataka to Gujarat and Assam under pressure from the Center and his alleged comment that there is no talent in the northeastern state, Karnataka RDPR, IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge made it clear that the BJP and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are at loggerheads. To distort his words.

Minister Kharge said on social media platform on Tuesday that this conversation is likely to further intensify the war of words between the two leaders.

Priyank Kharge said, “As always, BJP and CM Himanta Biswa Sarma are twisting my words. My statement is clear and very specific, it was about how semiconductor companies were being pressured to set up in Gujarat and Assam, even when they had expressed clear interest in Karnataka because of our engineering talent and established ecosystem.”

He further said, “According to the latest NITI Aayog report, after nearly a decade of BJP rule, Assam today ranks among the bottom five states in key development indicators like health, education and economic growth. The only thing Mr Sarma has managed to increase is his own wealth. It seems every major scam or corruption case has reached his doorstep, while the youth of Assam have been left without jobs or opportunities.”

“Instead of trying to cover up his failures by politicizing my statements, the Chief Minister should ask himself what he has done for the youth of his state. Why are they leaving Assam to find work elsewhere?” Minister Kharge asked a question.

Priyank Kharge said, “BJP’s days in Assam are numbered. When Congress returns to power in Assam, our focus will be on skills, employment and rebuilding trust in governance. We will create an environment where talent flourishes in every corner of the state and the youth are freed from the grip of corrupt governance and third-rate divisive politics.”

Earlier, Kharge had reportedly said in an interview to a news channel that investments meant for Karnataka were being diverted to BJP-ruled Gujarat and Assam following pressure from the Centre. He further said that there is no talent to set up big industries in Assam.

Responding to this, CM Sarma said, “Priyank Kharge is a first class idiot.” He has insulted the Assamese youth.” He also said that his government is considering registering a case against him.
