Selfless Jeff Bezos opens more than a dozen free Montessori schools in Texas

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is the second richest man in the world with a net worth of over $206 billion.

In 2018, the billionaire announced that he would create a network of free Montessori-inspired preschools, WFAA informed of.

Five years later, the Amazon founder opened the Bezos Academy for children ages 3 to 5, explaining that his preschool experience in Mexico inspired him to open the school.

Bezos Academy spokeswoman, Allison Leader, said: “Bezos really credits his Montessori preschool education for setting him and his family up for success. And that’s when he was determining where to spend his money. This was at the top of his list of what methods to use.”

In 2023, they opened more than 16 schools in Washington, Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Kentucky, and Florida.

Now he’s opening a dozen more in Texas.

Kanetria Doolin, director of the North Dallas campus, said: “We are tuition-free. So, a family that makes less than $120,000 a year can qualify to attend here.”

Bezos Academy preschools are free, and admissions are generally open year-round. The school also provides three meals a day to the children in addition to breakfast.

Preschools are located within other institutions, such as primary schools and community colleges, which offer places to academies for free.
