Raipur, 22 September (IANS) Security forces on Monday launched a major search operation in the dense forests of Abujamad located along the Maharashtra border in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, following reliable intelligence reports about Maoist activity in the region.
The operation, which began earlier, led the encounter between forces and armed Maoist rebels.
According to official sources, communication units associated with suspected movements and communication by monitoring units started suspected movements and communications associated with Maoist cadres working near the border area.
Abujamad, known for its hard terrain and limited connectivity, has long been a strategic base for Maoist groups, making such operations both important and challenging.
During the operation, security personnel recovered the body of a male Maoist from the encounter site. Along with the body, a cash of weapons was seized, indicating the presence of a well-armed group in the area.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed, and the authorities are working to detect their role within the Maoist ranks.
Officials said the search operation is still going on, in which the remaining rebels to comb through the forest. The terrain and dense leaves have slowed down progress, but the force remains alert and firm to neutralize the danger.
According to senior officials engaged in the operation, the police teams are continuing the search with full caution.
