A Peterborough man was arrested Friday in connection with a fatal stabbing in Oshawa earlier this week.
Officers say they received a call at 4:14 a.m. Tuesday about a man who was found suffering from multiple wounds in the roadway near Park Road South and John Street West.
The victim – identified as 44-year-old Jeremy Russell – was taken to a Toronto-area trauma center where he was pronounced dead.
Later that day, police located one of Russell’s suspected murderers and took him into custody. In a news release issued Wednesday, Durham Regional Police Service announced the arrest of Nicholas Robbins, 33, of Oshawa. He was charged with second-degree murder and held for a bail hearing.
Investigators also said they are looking for a second suspect, identified as Michael Waterman, 44, of Peterborough. He surrendered to police on Friday after officers spotted him at a residence near Dalhousie Street and Aylmer Street.
Waterman was later arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is also wanted in connection with a separate murder in Peterborough on December 6.
Four suspects identified in Peterborough murders
Waterman is one of four suspects wanted and arrested in connection with a murder in central Peterborough after a seriously injured man was found inside an apartment building in the area of Brock Street and Aylmer Street at about 6 a.m. on December 6.
“Despite life-saving efforts, a 33-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene,” police wrote in a statement.
Officers were searching for four suspects and later arrested Dominic Rivers, 32, of Peterborough, and charged him with murder after the fact.
Police also arrested Peter Pople, 28, of Peterborough and charged him with second-degree murder. A third suspect, 29-year-old Kaya Coughlin, was arrested on December 18 and charged with murder.
“The search for suspects in the December 6 murder has now ended and it is believed that all those involved will now be before the courts,” authorities wrote in a statement.
