A brief report on the 2025 local body elections released by the SEC showed that the LDF got 33.45% votes, while the BJP-led NDA stood third with 14.71% of the over 2.12 crore votes.

In the six municipal corporations, the UDF got 34.95% votes, slightly ahead of the LDF’s 33.67%, while the NDA got 23.58%.
At the district panchayat level, UDF got 39.17% votes, followed by LDF with 34.02% and NDA with 13.92%.
In municipalities, the UDF again led with 38.85% votes, while the LDF got 29.88% and the NDA 14.40%, SEC data shows.
A comparison of ward-level results of the 2020 and 2025 civic elections revealed a significant change, with the LDF winning 1,227 fewer wards than last time, while the UDF recorded a net gain of 3,082 wards.
According to the SEC, the NDA improved its performance by winning 320 more wards in 2025 compared to the previous local body elections.
