As part of the initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs for Nationwide Civil Defense Preparations, Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Forces (SDRF) personnel on Tuesday focused on a boat capsie landscape, drooling a mock at Dal Lake, Srinagar.
Talking to ANI, an SDRF personnel, Arif Hussain said, “Yesterday we got an order to drill a mock drill about boat capsies … we will display to use our equipment. We are following the order here (MHA).”
Another SDRF personnel said, “We are here to drill a mock, especially for situations like boat capsize … it is also according to that initiative (MHA order to mock drills).”
Earlier today, several high -ranked officers including DG Civil Defense and DG NDRF arrived in the Ministry of Home Affairs for a meeting called by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan about the operation of mock drills for effective civil defense across the country on 7 May.
Government sources said that many states have been asked to drill mock drills on 7 May to increase civil security preparation. Measures include a warning of aerial attack on protective works during an hostile attack, training of sirens, citizens and students.
Sources said that measures include provision of crash blackout measures, provision for early camouflage of important establishments and provision to update the withdrawal scheme and its rehearsal.
In view of the Pahalgam terror attack, tension between India and Pakistan has increased with 26 people, most of whom were killed. The government has said that the criminals of the terrorist attack will have to face serious punishment.
Earlier, a 30 -minute rehearsal for blackout was done on Sunday in the entire Ferozpur Cantonment area amid increased tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pehhalgam terror attack.
The rehearsal was held on the guidelines of the Cantonment Board/Station Commander.
“Blackout was from 9 am to 9:30 pm. According to the orders of senior officials, the lights were completely closed. If a vehicle was found with its light, it was closed … The police is completely cautious.

The government has given full operational freedom to the armed forces to take a timely decision of the mode, target, and India’s response in view of the Pahalgam terror attack.
The government has also announced several measures, including inserting the Indus Water Treaty into Abanence, which has to send a strong message to Pakistan for its support for terrorism. (AI)
