SC says

The Supreme Court said on Tuesday that no tremendous action will be taken against the owners of diesel vehicles over 10 years of age and in the National Capital Region (NCR) against patrol vehicles above 15 years of age.

A bench of India’s Chief Justice Bra Gawai, Justice Vinod K Chandran and NV Anjaria issued a notice to the Commission for the Center and Commission on the Delhi government’s plea and challenged the blanket ban on diesel vehicles above 10 years of age and challenged petrol vehicles over 15 years of age.

The case will be heard again after four weeks.

“Earlier, used cars for a 40–50 years. Now, there are still old cars …” Justice Gawai saw.

The Delhi government sought a direction on October 29, 2018 to remember the apex court on October 29, 2018, which retained the initial instructions of the National Green Tribunal.

The argument states that Delhi-NCR requires a comprehensive policy to deal with pollution, which according to scientific methods gives vehicle fitness based on the actual emission levels of individual vehicles, rather than implementing a blanket restriction rather than implementing a blanket restriction.

This demanded a comprehensive study to assess the actual environmental benefits of age-based sanctions versus emission-based criteria by the Center and CAQM.

The argument states that such restrictions on vehicles will not be necessary, after 2018, strict standards of emission monitoring and increased coverage of pollution tests have been implemented.

The petition further stated that there should be a ban on emissions instead of vehicle age. (AI)
