The remarks were made by Justice Narasimha, who was sitting on the bench with Justice Atul S Chandurkar during the mention of the cases.

When senior lawyer Kapil Sibal remarked that many lawyers were already wearing masks in court, Justice Narasimha cautioned that masks alone may not be sufficient protection, warning that “poisonous air can cause permanent damage”.

The national capital has been battling poisonous air since the beginning of this month. Its air quality remains in the ‘severe’ category this week.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi recorded its first ‘severe’ air quality day of the season with an AQI of 428 at 4 pm on Tuesday. A similar ‘serious’ category report was registered on Wednesday also.
