New Delhi, 18 September (IANS) The Supreme Court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to examine the authenticity of a bachelor’s degree conducted by a lawyer, alleging that it was forged.
The direction was passed by a bench of Justice Manoj Mishra and Ujjal Bhuyan, as a letter of Magadh University examinations was included in a letter of examinations of Magadh University after challenging the order of the Bar Council of India Displays Committee, stating that the Mark Sheet and Degree Certificate of Advocate was said “Fake and the university”.

On the other hand, the petitioner-teacher recorded a photocopy of the record, claiming that it was released to pass the three-year course organized by Magadh University in August 1991 to pass the Bachelor of Commerce (Hons).
He further argued that the records at Magadh University were torn, and therefore, the authenticity of the degree could not be verified by the files available.
After listening to the presentations, the Supreme Court said that the case needs an independent inquiry.
“It may be that it may be, an issue about the veracity of a degree has arisen, we understand that the Central Bureau of Investigation, Delhi is required to investigate and to find out whether the degree set up by the petitioner to pass the B.Com examination from Magadh University in 1991 is real or forged.
The Apex court directed that a copy of its order should be sent to the CBI Director in Delhi, which should be deputed to an officer to investigate the case and submit a report by 30 November.
The case will be heard on 9 December.
