Ahmedabad, Oct 30 (IANS) National Unity Day, also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, will be observed on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and honor his role in promoting national and political unity.
This year’s celebration of National Unity Day is especially special, as it marks the 150th birth anniversary of the ‘Iron Man of India’.
Ekta Nagar is gearing up to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and has lined up a series of events, including a cultural fest and a National Unity Day parade by security forces.
The parade, which marks the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, will be held in Ekta Nagar, where the 182-metre-tall Statue of Unity stands.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ready to participate in the Unity Day celebrations.
A special highlight of the occasion will be the National Unity Parade, which will be modeled on the lines of the Republic Day Parade and will include contingents from across the country.
Security personnel from BSF, CRPF and CISF will participate in the ceremony. Police contingents from many states will also participate. Soldiers will display their bravery and courage in the Unity Parade.
Briefing the press about the grand parade, Gandhinagar DGP Vikas Sahay told reporters, “This year, a total of 16 marching contingents from across the country will participate in the parade. Of these, five contingents will be from central armed police forces, including BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP and SSB.”
Air show by Surya Kiran team of Indian Air Force and tableaus of different states will also be the main attraction of the program. Around 12,000 spectators are expected to come to watch the Unity Parade.
The Gujarat government has made extensive preparations for the grand event. From the accommodation of the participants to the smooth transportation of the visitors, from medical facilities to their food, complete arrangements have been made for every facility.
