New Delhi, Oct 31 (IANS) As the NDA released its joint manifesto, ‘Sankalp Patra’, for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday described it as a roadmap to realize the dream of ‘developed India’ through unity and inclusive growth.
Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh, speaking to IANS, said, “The NDA manifesto released today presents a clear roadmap to make Bihar a significant contributor to ‘Developed India’. It focuses on employment for youth, opportunities for farmers, empowerment of women and development of Bihar’s infrastructure and cities. In short, it envisions holistic progress. Previous governments provided only 94,000 jobs, while the NDA promised to provide jobs ranging from roads to employment. The opportunities have delivered solid results.”
BJP MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad highlighted the inclusive nature of the NDA manifesto.
Prasad said, “It focuses on farmers, backward and extremely backward classes as well as the general class. It includes a plan to provide employment to one crore youth, set up skill centers to promote entrepreneurship and prepare a roadmap of development for the extremely backward classes. This is what real development means.”
Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal described the NDA manifesto as a guarantee of the “five Pandavas – JP Nadda, Nitish Kumar, Upendra Kushwaha, Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi”.
“It represents the guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the confidence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the vision of a united Bihar. This manifesto is truly a roadmap to realize the dream of ‘Developed India’ through strong unity,” he said.
BJP MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia emphasized on women empowerment in the manifesto.
He said, “It is a matter of pride that this initiative reflects India’s strong commitment to empowering half of our population – women. Dedicated funds have been allocated to ensure this goal, and every scheme is aimed at enhancing the participation and empowerment of women.”
Bihar minister Nitin Nabin said the manifesto is based on two decades of progress under the NDA government.
“Our resolve is based on what we have achieved in the last 20 years – development of every section of the society, every sector and every sector. We have brought prosperity to homes, food to the poor and healthcare through Ayushman Bharat. But what has the opposition done?” He added.
BJP MP Brijlal said, “This is our manifesto, not just an election manifesto. Others issue manifestos but rarely fulfill them. For example, RJD’s promises are impossible to implement. But when BJP issues a manifesto, it fulfills them.”
The NDA’s ‘sankalp patra’ was released by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and BJP chief JP Nadda in Patna on Friday morning and comes less than a week before the first phase of voting. Leaders of all the constituent parties of NDA including Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha were present on the stage.
The NDA manifesto makes a big promise of providing one crore government jobs in a state known for large-scale migration of workers.
There is a special focus on women empowerment schemes, with an ambitious target of making one crore women ‘Lakhpati Didis’, effectively empowering them to earn Rs 1 lakh annually, besides offering financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh.
The NDA manifesto promises a major infrastructure boost in the state including construction of four international airports and expressways.
Bihar Finance Minister Samrat Choudhary, later briefing the media about the NDA manifesto, said, “The NDA promises to provide more than one crore government jobs and employment, conduct skill census, create skill-based employment and establish Bihar as a global learning hub with mega learning centers in every district.”
