There was a big controversy regarding Shai Hope’s catch to dismiss Sanju Samson during the IPL 2024 match on Tuesday. Hope was dangerously close to the boundary line when he completed the catch at long-in and the third umpire ruled in DC’s favour. However, Samson was disappointed with the decision and had an argument with the on-field umpires. Replays showed that there was a possibility that Hope might have touched the boundary line while taking the catch and opinion was divided among fans and experts on the entire incident. Official broadcaster Jio Cinema provided a zoomed-in picture of the catch and it has provided a new angle to the conversation as it shows that Hope did not touch the boundary.

Samson was fined 30 per cent for “breaching the IPL code of conduct” after an argument with the umpires. “Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been fined 30 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 56 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
