Jaipur, November 15 (IANS) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said on Saturday that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay expressed Sanatan Darshan for the modern world by presenting it as an integral human philosophy in accordance with the needs of the country, time and situation.
He said that although this philosophy was formally presented 60 years ago, its relevance today extends across the world.
Bhagwat was delivering the Deendayal Memorial Lecture organized by the Integral Human Philosophy Research and Development Foundation in Jaipur.
He told that the essence of integral human philosophy can be understood in one word, religion.
Clarifying that dharma does not imply religion, sect or creed, he said it symbolizes a destination and a universal outlook that accommodates all.
He said that in the present time the world will have to adopt this religion of integrated human philosophy. He said that historically, Indians have never exploited or harmed others while traveling abroad, but rather made positive contributions wherever they went.
He said, “The lifestyle, food habits and dress have changed with time in India, but the eternal philosophy of integral humanism remains intact.”
Its foundation, he said, is the belief that happiness lies within oneself.
He asserted, “Recognizing this inner happiness leads to the understanding that the entire world is one. Integral Humanism is a philosophy free from extremism.”
Speaking about physical, mental and intellectual power, Bhagwat said that all types of power have limits.
He said that the need of the hour is to pursue personal development while remaining committed to the welfare of all. Citing persistent global economic disruptions, he said India remains relatively less affected because its economic strength lies in its family structure.
Commenting on the rapid scientific progress, Bhagwat said that material comforts have increased, but peace and satisfaction have not.
He questioned whether health had actually improved despite new medicines, pointing out that some diseases were caused by certain treatments.
He further said that only 4 percent of the global population uses 80 percent of the world’s resources, widening the gap between developed and underdeveloped countries.
He said India has always had diversity, but it has never been a source of conflict – but a source of celebration.
He said, “Indian society has given place to innumerable deities and continues to welcome them without any difficulty. The world accepts the existence of happiness for the body, mind and intellect, but not how to achieve all three together.”
According to Bhagwat, India understands this uniquely because it believes in holistic happiness of body, mind, intellect and soul.
Earlier, Mahesh Sharma, President of Integral Human Philosophy Research and Development Foundation, introduced the program.
He said that the entire universe is interconnected and even the movement of a single particle has an impact on the entire universe.
He also said that this year marks the 150th anniversary of the composition of Vande Mataram, emphasizing the importance of singing the entire song in the current circumstances.
In this program, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Berwa, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, BJP state president Madan Rathore, state ministers Kirori Lal Meena and Rajyavardhan Rathore, Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari, former minister Rajendra Rathore, RSS’s All India Co-Promotion Chief Arun Jain, All India Co-Organization Chief Anil Oak, Regional Sanghchalak Ramesh Aggarwal and Regional Campaigner Nimbaram were present.
