Samsung admits Galaxy S23 touchscreen issues; here’s how to fix it

Samsung started rolling out the One UI 6.1 update to older Galaxy devices last week. After the AI-centric software update rolled out, multiple users across the web complained that the update was causing touchscreen issues on their Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra models. Some users claim that after updating to One UI 6.1, the screen becomes completely unresponsive to touch. Samsung finally acknowledged the issue on Wednesday (April 3) and provided a fix. The Korean brand said that compatibility issues with some Google app features caused the issue.

According to Samsung, the Google Discover feed is causing touchscreen performance issues on affected Galaxy S23 series smartphones.

Samsung advises affected users to temporarily update Google apps to the latest version via Google Play, delete the app’s data, and then restart the device to resolve the issue.App storage space can be deleted with a click Settings > Apps > Google > Storage > Delete data. Google is said to be working on solving the problem.

The One UI 6.1 update started rolling out globally to last year’s Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series last week. Some users complained that the update caused charging issues and fingerprint scanner issues on Galaxy S23 models.

The AI-centric One UI 6.1 was released during the Galaxy S24 series launch event in January. It includes several artificial intelligence-powered features as part of the Galaxy AI experience. These include real-time translation, chat assistance, note assistance, and circle search.
