South Korean electronics giant Samsung plans to start manufacturing notebook computers at its Noida plant in India this year, a senior official said on Monday.
Samsung Electronics president and mobile experience (MX) business head TM Roh, who considers India an important manufacturing base, told reporters here that preparations for notebook manufacturing in India are underway.
“We will start producing laptops at the Noida plant this year. Preparations are already underway,” the official, who is visiting India, said.
Roh Moo-hyun said that India is an important manufacturing base for the company and has received support at all levels from the state and central governments.
He added that the company will continue to work with the government to strengthen manufacturing in India.
The company recently launched its flagship Galaxy S24 series of smartphones with a focus on artificial intelligence features in the device.
Samsung announced that it will also manufacture the Galaxy S24 at its Noida factory.
“Noida is a very important production base for Samsung. It is Samsung’s second largest base. The factory may make some adjustments to optimize it based on global demand, but what remains unchanged is that it is an important base for us.”
The Noida plant has already started manufacturing feature phones, smartphones, wearables and tablets and now the company will start manufacturing laptops this year.
