Sam Pitroda’s close relationship with Rahul Gandhi opposes Chidambaram’s refusal

New Delhi, 2 October (IANS) Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram’s remarks during a podcast interview with ABP News – that Sam Pitroda does not guide Rahul Gandhi on foreign policy matters – Bogota is a contradiction with footage showing Pitroda with Congress MP on his arrival in Colombia.

Rahul Gandhi is currently on a South American tour, joining four countries with political leaders, university students and professional communities.

Supervisors feel that Pitroda’s presence is far from the only photo opportunity; Rather, it indicates his role as a close guard and advisor of Rahul Gandhi during this foreign trip. Observers are difficult to believe Chidambaram’s portrayal of Pitroda as a single, independent voice.

At the age of 90, Pitroda is deeply inherent in Congress affairs, in June 2024 the President of the Overseas Congress (IOC) was re -appointed. He has organized several major foreign tourism for Rahul Gandhi, including trips to America and Europe, which aims to rally in the Indian Diaspora. Pitroda is influenced by the 1980s when he was a close advisor to the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and played an important role in India’s telecommunications revolution.

In Podcast, Chidambaram demanded the Congress to distance the Congress from the vocal ideas of Pitroda. He claims that, for his knowledge, Pitroda has not advised Rahul Gandhi on foreign policy that Pitroda, who advocated close ties with India, including Pakistan and China, came amid fresh controversy over the statements of Pitroda.

Pitroda recently set fire to his remarks after urging the Center to prioritize dialogue with neighboring countries and said that India’s foreign policy should start with strengthening relations in the region including Pakistan.

In an interview with IANIS, Pitroda said, “Our foreign policy, according to me, should first focus on our neighborhood. Can we really improve relations with our neighbors? … I have gone to Pakistan, and I have to tell you, I have to feel at home. I have gone to Bangladesh, I have gone to Bangladesh, I have gone to Nepal, and I think I think I am in a foreign country.”

This approach, according to BJP leaders and political observers, not only reflects Pitroda’s personal views, but also the Congress party’s broad ideological stance. He argues that Pitroda affects Rahul Gandhi’s world vision, which leads him to a soft currency on Pakistan and China.

The BJP alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s own controversial statements on foreign soil – are often important for the Government of India and the security currency – this mentorship and eventually work to reduce India’s position globally.

Political observers note that Pitroda’s role is far from peripheral. “He is not just some random uncle; he is the guru of Gandhis on the global outreach,” said an anonymous analyst.

Under his leadership of IOC, Congress campaigns include gathering foreign Indians, combining personal philosophy with the Institutional Authority.

Despite controversies – such as his 2024 comments on hereditary tax and his notorious “Hua To Hua” comment on the 1984 riots – Pitroda remains an important person within the party.

In this context, the footage of Rahul Gandhi and Sam Pitroda in Colombia drew a fresh suspicion that Pitroda does not advise Rahul on foreign policy. Instead, it suggests that Pitroda remains an important guru guiding Rahul Gandhi on the international stage.

Last year, when the Congress re -appointed Pitroda as the president of its foreign unit after a brief expulsion, the BJP condemned the move, supporting Pitroda’s “objectionable and unnatural” comments about Indians, the anti -lion riots of 1984, and Pulwama Terror Attack.

The BJP has repeatedly accused the Congress of “removing” “foolish and confused” from Pitroda’s controversial remarks. Chidambaram’s refusal of Pitroda’s guiding role on ABP Podcast is now seen through this lens, which led to skepticism.
