Kulgam, 05 July: Minister of Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education Minister, Sekena Itu today visited Imam Bara in Shahu in Kulgam and took stock of the arrangements for the 10th Muharram.
During his visit, Minister Sekena, with local community members, religious leaders and residents, to understand his concerns and ensure that there are necessary arrangements for the smooth and peaceful adherence of Ashura. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the opportunity and assured full support in addressing any logical or administrative issues.
The minister highlighted the Muharram, deep spiritual and cultural significance for the Muslim community and it is our collective responsibility to provide the atmosphere of dignity, security and comfort to those who mourn.
He instructed the officials to deploy adequate manpower of the Health Department along with the routes of Muharram processions to facilitate mischief.
Expressing deep respect for the rich traditions and historical significance of Muharram, the minister underlined the role of inter-social harmony and urged the authorities to ensure uninterrupted essential services, safety and hygiene around the Imam Bars.
He instructed the officials concerned to closely coordinate with local committees to meet the requirements of the devotees, such as proper lighting, drinking water, medical assistance as well as traffic regulation.
