Minister of Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sekeena Itu, today chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to assess the status of ongoing works under the Health infrastructure Projects in Kashmir Division.
The meeting was attended by MD J&C Housing Board, MD Police Housing Corporation, Chief Engineer R&B North Kashmir, Director Health Service Kashmir, Mechanical and Representative of Hospital Engineering Department and other officers of the concerned departments and other officials and project executed agencies.
Reviewing the district-wise progress on each project, the minister underlined the importance of following the deadline, especially in remote and snow-prone areas. He said, “Timely completing these projects is important to save precious human life. We cannot delay in obstructing rural health care distribution during rigid winter,” he said.
The minister issued clear directions to all executed agencies to ensure that all the ongoing projects, from new health centers to upgradation of existing facilities, are completed in time as Kashmir has less working season.
Highlighting the importance of these projects for rural health services services, the minister underlined that once completed, these projects will significantly strengthen the healthcare network in rural and undercore areas of Kashmir Division. “The government aims to make quality healthcare accessible at the ground level. This infrastructure upgradation is an important step towards achieving healthcare equity”, the minister said.
During the meeting, the minister emphasized on the officials of the Health Department and operated a regular check-up of the ongoing construction works to execute the agencies so that the buildings would be constructed according to the approved works. He also asked them to consult each stakeist in DPR formulation, ensuring that all necessary basic facilities are included.
