Srinagar, 21 August: Health and Medical Education Minister, Social Welfare and Education Minister, Sakna Itu today chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review the developmental scenario of Hazratbal constituency.
MLA Hazratbal, Salman Ali Sagar attended the meeting; Secretary School Education, Ram Newas Sharma; Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah; Director School Education Kashmir, Director Health Service Kashmir, CMO Srinagar, CEO Srinagar and other related officials.
During the meeting, the minister emphasized the authorities for effective and optimal use of public infrastructure to address the real needs and issues of the general public. He directed the concerned departments to adopt the result-oriented approach, prefer the completion of projects on time and optimum service distribution.
“The public infrastructure is designed to reduce people’s lives, but until it is maintained and not used effectively, it fails to fulfill its purpose,” he said. The minister urged the officials to streamline service distribution and ensure that the projects have already been completed or they get tangible benefits for the common citizen under progress.
Reviewing the educational landscape of the constituency, the minister directed the School Education Department to ensure that basic facilities are set up in all schools of the constituency from primary level to higher secondary level. He also directed the authorities for timely renewal of dilapidated buildings to fit them for class work and other necessary objectives.
Taking stock of the health sector in the constituency, the minister asked the officials to ensure that existing facilities and newly constructed infrastructure are effectively used to benefit people. He also underlined the importance of Hazratbal constituency as a seat of learning and spirituality, given that continuous developmental efforts should complement its cultural and educational heritage.
The minister further directed the officials of the Health Department for the effective use of Mini Maternity Hospital Zakura. He also emphasized the Health Department to address issues obstructing SDH Hubbak.
Reviewing the functioning of other health institutions in the constituency such as Uphc Telbal, PHC Burzahama, Fakir Gujri Hospital, Uphc Nis, Uphc Nishe, PHC Briien, Uphc Harwan, NTPHC TheED and others, the ministers directed the officials to set up the necessary facilities for digital X-ray, advanced diagnostic equipment and other advice.
He asked the concerned officials of the Health Department to present the required requirements for upgrading the health facilities of Hazratbal constituency, so that the necessary funds can be made available.
Confirming the commitment of Omar Abdullah, the government moved towards inclusive development, the minister called the officials and stakeholders to work in coordination so that the constituency emerged as a model of balanced development.
He said, “Our focus should be for the welfare of the people. Development should be not only about making property, but should also ensure that this property actually serves the community,” he said.
The minister directed the officials that he said that the government is committed to bridge developmental imbalance and promote inclusive development in the constituency.
