Kolar (Karnataka), November 6 (IANS) An incident of a father killing his 5-year-old daughter and then committing suicide after being abandoned by his wife came to light from Karnataka’s Kolar district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Lokesh, 37, and his daughter Niharika, 5, residents of Madiyanuru village in Mulbagal taluk.
According to preliminary investigation, Lokesh’s wife had recently left him following a dispute in the family. Frustrated with being abandoned, Lokesh first strangled his daughter to death and later hanged himself from a tree.
The body of the deceased girl was found in the car. The incident occurred within Mulbagal rural police station limits. The police have started further investigation.
More information is yet to be revealed regarding the incident.
On October 25, a 30-year-old man allegedly killed his seven-year-old stepdaughter in Kumbalgodu, southwest Bengaluru.
According to police, the daughter was found dead when her mother returned home from work. Investigation revealed that the accused had strangulated the girl to death. The mother had separated from her first husband four months ago. The accused and the girl’s mother had married four months ago.
On September 14, a couple allegedly murdered their two minor children on the outskirts of Bengaluru, following which the husband committed suicide. Reportedly the wife also attempted suicide but was saved by neighbors.
On August 30, in a shocking incident, a man strangled his daughter after allegedly pouring pesticide in her mouth to make it look like suicide and later cremated her. The father killed his daughter because she was in a relationship with a young man from a different community in Kalaburagi.
Police received information about the suspicious death of an 18-year-old youth and began an investigation. The man had opposed their relationship because he had five daughters. He feared that inter-caste marriage would adversely affect his other four daughters.
