Thiruvananthapuram, 19 September (IANS) Kerala Legislative Assembly on Friday blocked the Sabarimala Gold Plating controversy through a adjournment speed to increase the Congress -led UDF’s Sabarimala Gold Plating dispute, indicating a dramatic walkout.
The controversies focused that the gold cover on the statue of Sainctum Sainctum was removed without authority and about four kilograms were found missing.
Citing “deep pain of devotees”, the opposition pressured for an immediate debate.
The speaker rejected the proposal by a Shamser, deciding that the matter is already before the Kerala High Court. “Since this issue is a sub judice, the house cannot take it,” he said.
Incidentally, on Wednesday, the Kerala High Court raised serious concerns over discrepancies in the weight of gold plates used in the sanctum sanctorum (Sandanham) of the Sabarimala temple and was said to be a “strange and worrying” case.
During the hearing on Wednesday, the court questioned how the plates were weighed 42 kg when taken for gold plating work in 2019, there was a shortage of four kilograms on returning.
Following the speaker’s refusal to take the proposal to be held for the discussion, the leader of the opposition VD Sathasan shot back that a similar speed was allowed in the past despite the court proceedings.
“The government is hiding behind the process to avoid accountability,” he said.
Excise Minister, MB Rajesh, accused the protest of trying to unrest among the Ayyappa devotees. “This is nothing, but disappointment. They are deliberately considering to create an uproar in a court view in a case,” he said.
Unpublished, the opposition accused the government of “continuous neglect” of Sabarimala and emphasized the issue that there was a complete debate.
The notice was presented by Congress veteran Thiruvunchur Radhakrishnan, which was rejected, inspired the opposition benches to do a walkout.
Minister p. Rajiv later ridiculed the move, stating that the High Court will again take up the matter on 30 September.
“If the opposition forced a debate today, they looked even more ridiculous than the last three days,” he said.
The offering of gold in Sabarimala has already been disqualified among the devotees and has also provoked political sparing outside the House, in which under the pressure of the government, the public is under pressure to assure the public about the security of the property of the temple.
