The Kerala High Court directed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday, October 6, which to investigate the alleged theft of gold from the Sabarimala temple.

Sasidharan, led by the former Superintendent of Police, will be seen by the Director General of Police (ADGP) H Venkatesh, the head of the investigation and the three inspectors including cyber experts.

The High Court Devaswom Bench has asked the SIT to keep the investigation completely private and not to reveal any information. The order is in the dates of 2019, when the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) removed the gold copper plates.

The problem deteriorated when Unnikrishnan Potty said two gold climbing panels presented in the temple in 2019 were stolen from Strongroom, just before the Global Ayyappa Sangam incident.

Recently, IDB surveillance discovered ‘missing’ goods; However, it was claimed that about 5 kg weight was removed from the plates. According to Kerala Devaswom Minister VN Vasavan, TDB vigilance will submit a report to the High Court on 8 October.

More than 5 kg of gold is missing from Sabarimala donation

Mismatched between old and current gold plated panels

The Davswom Board Vigilance found that the gold climbing panels on the sanctum sanctorum are different from 2019, possibly indicating the loss of panels offered with gold donated by Vijay Mallya, according to a report in Mathrubhumi. This conclusion was designed from photographic comparison and supported by an assessment of a Goldsmith.

Currently gold plated panel Sabarimala Holi Saints Do not match the photos of the panels before July 2019. This shows that in 2019, the gold panels of gold with the gold donated by Vijay Mallya have disappeared.

During the interrogation, a Goldsmith, consulted during the interrogation, also concluded that the panels are not the same. Vigilance intends to seek the permission of the High Court for forensic tests to determine the age and authenticity of the panels.

Uproar in Kerala Assembly

Earlier in the day, the Kerala Legislative Assembly watched a high play as the opposition created a ruckus over the gold climbing dispute. During the hour of question, opposition leader VD Satheson raised the issue and demanded the resignation of the Devaswom Minister and the Chairman of the Travancore Devaswom Board.

Opposition legislators surrounded the speaker’s podium, carrying placards and banners with messages such as “the theft of Ayyappan, ate by the temple robbers”, disrupting their vision. As the situation became serious, the minister and the members of the ruling front stood in their seats.

Amidst the commotion, the speaker a Shamser canceled the question hour and postponed the house in a moment. “Why disrupt the house even without giving a single notice?” He said.
