Even before the mattress arrived, I was impressed with Satva and its service. I received an email to schedule delivery on a day that was convenient for me and received a two-hour time slot. When it arrived (on time), it was unboxed by the movers and placed on my bed, reducing the need to carry it around. But when you need to move it (it needs to be moved every six months), there are handles on the side, and it’s easy enough for two people to do. What surprised me was the lack of chemical smell that many other mattresses I’ve tested in the past had.

Completing it all is a luxurious 3-inch pillow top, which provides just the right level of cushioning without being too soft. With its premium gold stitching, it definitely looks attractive.
Saatva Classic Mattress Comfort and Movement Isolation
As mentioned, I tested an 11 1/2-inch luxury firm queen mattress. I prefer pillowy, hug-like softness, but I compromised for my partner, who prefers a firmer mattress. I was skeptical about how I would find this new level of firmness, but I found it extremely comfortable, providing hotel-quality luxury right at home. I also realized the benefits of assistive technology at work, waking up without any pain.
It also has a good amount of bounce, making it fairly easy to move around on – but it does mean that movement isolation isn’t the best I’ve tested. To really assess this, I placed a glass of water on the mattress as I moved around a bit, and the glass tilted slightly. Although not a deal-breaker, I can definitely feel my partner tottering off at night, so it’s something to consider if you’re a short sleeper.
As far as Saatva’s claim that the luxury firm is a good all-rounder regardless of gold position or size is concerned, I would say the brand is on safe ground with this statement. Both my partner and I find sleeping a dream, and I’m glad I was forced to compromise with persistence.
Saatva Classic Mattress Temperature Regulation
As far as temperature regulation is concerned, I have yet to test it during the summer months, but even when it has been unseasonably warm in my apartment at night, I have woken up without a sweat and slept comfortably. While this isn’t a cooling mattress by any means, its construction means it’s breathable – this is thanks to the dual coil design that allows air to flow through the different layers and dissipate body heat. Of course, when the warmer weather arrives (eventually), I’ll update this review with my findings on how it works to regulate the temperature.
